Invest, Connect and Celebrate

This is my salute to Jeff Skoll of eBay, skoll Foundation (philanthropy and social entrepreneurship) and Participant Productions (social movie making of An Inconvenient Truth fame). He spoke on the TED conference recently – Humanity 2.0 is a noble goal indeed (video below).

Yet another geek in the ‘do good for humanity’ list. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that many of the most successful entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valley can speak about the reasons and motivations behind their philanthropic work, and how many of them seem to have thought about these things since their young, early days. There seem to be a common theme that resonates among the geeks of the world.

Time to hunt down those movies from Participant Productions…
